You are about to discover how 10 minutes of planning per month will explode your profits.
Yup, that’s right. 10 minutes. The sad truth is almost no one who has an internet business is putting in those simple 10 minutes of planning and as a result most online businesses are limping along barely surviving.
I teach lead blogging which is, primarily, a way for you to build a large, targeted, double opt-in email and RSS list. But lead blogging is not simply about building a list. Your goal is not to simply build a list, your goal is to build a list that actually makes a profit—a list that pays you month after month, year after year.
Most internet business owners do the same thing: They decide they want to make some money—whether that’s every day or week or month—pick an affiliate product, paste in a pre-written email and send it to their list. Then they wait and hope someone buys.
Some people DO buy and they make a few bucks. If these people have a large enough list they can make a decent living, usually $ .25 up to $1 per month per subscriber.
But with 10 minutes planning and a lead blogging strategy, you can do far better. In fact, using the strategy you are about to receive, I have been able to consistently create profits of $1.93 per subscriber per month for over 5 years—twice as much as almost anyone else in the business.
Here’s how you can explode your profits with 10 minutes of planning each month.
First, decide how you are going to get more subscribers this month.
Subscribers are the “gas” for your business. The more subscribers you plug in each month, the faster your business will grow. Stop putting subscribers into your business and your business will slow and eventually come to a stop.
Take a few minutes to come up each month with another way to get subscribers to your list. Maybe you can offer a new download. You may want to offer a contest. Sometimes you may want to have a special seminar free to all who subscribe. Adding more subscribers is the single most important business activity.
Second, decide on a product to promote for that month.
You want to promote just one product per month. That gives you the best response while allowing you to create rapport with your subscribers.
The product should be one of high interest in your niche and which has a killer sales process. It should be a product that your readers can afford. It should be a product you can endorse without reservation.
Next, identify what you need to tell your subscribers to get them interested in the product.
A great product either provides your subscribers with something they desire or helps them avoid something they fear. It solves a problem. Take a couple minutes to identify why your subscribers will be interested in the product.
Fourth, identify three or four article topics to “pre-sell” the product.
Using the list of “why’s” you just created, think about 3 or 4 article topics where you can demonstrate those “why’s” to your subscribers.
For example: I regularly identify Aweber.com Tips for my subscribers. Not only is this helpful to them, it shows them how Aweber Autoresponders can make their life easier and their business more successful.
Fifth, send out one pre-selling article to your list each week.
For the first three or four weeks send out the articles you identified in the last step. This will prepare your list to buy the product you recommend.
Finally, promote your product.
During the last week of the month, directly promote your product. Your list will have been prepared by your “pre-selling” and should be more receptive to not only visit the sales site, but to actually buy the product.
Take 10 minutes to plan out your monthly promotions and watch your profits skyrocket. Try it, it will make you money.

1Aaron — this is great, and exactly where I am focused in my business right now.
I this article, you talk about “writing articles,” but you don’t really distinguish between blog posts and email articles out to your like.
Can you talk a little about how to integrate and reuse blog content on the list, and vice versa?
A case study would be really cool. Maybe you would consider doing a promotion in Oct or Nov and giving us a blow-by-blow.
Just some thoughts and questions…
Thanks for the post.
Regards,
Mark

2Wow, where the crap have I been Aaron! You changed themes on me, and still dropping the goodies man. For a while, I wasn’t seeing any updates, but it looks like the man is back! So you know the Joe will be running around.
This is so right, so simple, but so easy to skip. Many people are looking for that golden goose! This is a simple, yet, effective process and while I haven’t done every part, I’ve leaned into certain aspects of it, but I’m going to try and do it more.
thanks for the goodness.

3Right on, Joe.
It also means that people have to focus on a few quality products, and add value to the product prior to the sale.
No more jumping from product to product.

4Yep! I’ve never been one to sell or slang a bunch of products anyway, so this kinda lines up with how I like to promote. Though I like the idea of promoting one product for a month!
I like to create sites/blogs for products I absolutely love, and promote them that way. But this makes sense as well, promoting one specific product for a month, and going through a cycle.
Pretty soon, you’ll have a nice collection of products to go through monthly, some will be age old, time tested winners, and you will still be able to add new ones into the mix.

5Mark,
After 5pm today there should be an article/blog post up explaining the difference between the two.
I’ll have to think a little on whether I can share my complete stats for a promotion.
Rasta Marketer (Joe),
I’ve been so busy this summer consulting for the two presidential campaigns it has really cut into my writing time.
I liked this comment:
Anytime we can find a product where the keyword phrases targeting that product are low competition it makes sense to put up a blog/website just to sell that product. That’s a different but winning strategy as well. I need to incorporate that more than I have. (In fact, I “own” a few keyword phrases on Google where I could easily move my content to an independent blog and probably make more money.)

7Yeah man, it’s really just something I kinda stumbled upon, as my first blog was JUST for a specific product! And I liked it as a promotional method, it’s different and makes the affiliate sales seem more personal. Here are two sites I’ve done it with, and I continue to add content as I see fit. The main objective is to get the seo/organic traffic flowing, then I may venture into ppc.

I always wanted to write in my blog something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog?
Of course, I will add backlink?
