Recently I’ve visited several high profile blogs where the blog itself is located in a sub folder and the main page of the site (http://www.Domain.com/index.htm) was simply a “notice” telling me where to find their blog.
From a Google SEO standpoint, this isn’t the best way to go. You’re about to discover how to quickly and easily fix this problem and get better search position, more traffic and, ultimately, more money.
You do want more money from your blog, don’t you? Yeah, I thought so.
If you don’t force Google to “see” they are all the same page, it will treat them as different pages and dilute your Google juice. Here’s some simple steps to take to make Google a little less stupid.
Change the domain from Full Tilt Blogging to your own URL.
Then, paste the code into a blank notebook document, name it “index.php” and upload to the main page of your site.
When you get to the page look for these two blanks (it will be your domain, not mine):

See that “http://fulltilt…” part? You need to change that to “http://www.FullTilt…”. Like this:

See how I added the “www” to the two links? That means when someone links to my blog using this link:
http://FullTiltBlogging.com/blog
They automatically get redirected to:
http://www.FullTilTblogging.com/blog
And Google doesn’t get confused.
It will make you money.

4Hmmmmm
what if you prefer http:// instead of www? I just tell Google to use http://imwithjoe.com as my prefered domain. My .htaccess redirect will take people who type http://www.imwithjoe.com and point them to http://imwithjoe.com

5Good point Joe. It can go either way, the point is to make it consistent.
