I remember discussing this during one of our classes, but I need a little more clarification please.

<i>"You need about 20 landing pages to add people to your lists."</i>

Was it on purpose that you said "lists" and not "list"? Assuming we have one list, am I correct in saying that you're recommending we have 20 landing pages to that ONE list?

If so, then if I have one button that says "Darren Rowse hates kittens" and design my landing page around that theme, then the user signs up. But then on another button I have might say "Aaron likes Diet Coke" I'd design around that theme as well.

Stay with me, almost there. :)

So now I have two points of entry to the same list. I'm missing your point about how we like to see patterns, which I agree with, but I don't see the connection here. Unless you're suggesting I say on both landing pages that "if you have already signed up on the first list, then don't bother with this one", how is the sub going to distinguish between the two?

I signed up with an autoresponder service and I haven't gotten this far, but I'm assuming that any reputable service like that would have in place a message indicating if the sub has already signed up. But if that's the case, then I've wasted their time.

I know I must be overlooking something here. Thanks in advance to your answer. :)

Thanks, Aaron. I'm fine with the idea of building my base of subscribers.

I'm actually asking about the kind of products or services I can offer on my landing page. Surely I must have something to offer, say an ebook. Am I right? I can't simply create a landing page if I have nothing, can I?
