I’m about to give you a tip that will make you a ton of money when you apply it this week. It’s powerful and as soon as you hear it you will realize just how powerful it is and you will race to put it to work–before your competition does.
So most people–and probably all of your competitors–have only one email list and one subscribe incentive.
Each one has a different context.
The best way to maximize sign-ups is to create continuity between the source of the lead and the subscribe messages–the landing page, the web form, the confirm message and the follow-up message.
When we see something that doesn’t quite fit in the pattern it gives us a little brain bump. Wait? I thought I was signing up for “A”, but I got “B”. That doesn’t make sense.
One key factor is this: You need about 20 landing pages to add people to your lists.
You can’t build that infrastructure all in a day or even a week, but over time you can build many ways for people to enter your list.
Create several of these and over time you will connect with a large number of people. And your products will sell like cakes–cakes that are hot.
I just put up a new report you will want to pick up.

1Great finding,Aaron.Though introducing 20 landing pages for a blog could be the technical challenge,it surely would be a jump-start towards getting huge subscribers.

2Aaron,
I kind of see the benefit of building landing pages but when you are new in the blogosphere and have nothing to offer, where do you think we should start?

3Kaushik,
Technically it’s not too tough. Follow the instructions I will be giving you (along with the codes) to (over time) put up various subscriber traps on related topics for your own blog/website and you’ll see results.
Yan,
Start with a blog targeted to your market niche. Then the first week add one subscribe incentive. Next week (or two) add another. In your first year you will have enough to supply you with dozens of new subscribers a day.

4Thanks, Aaron. I’m fine with the idea of building my base of subscribers.
I’m actually asking about the kind of products or services I can offer on my landing page. Surely I must have something to offer, say an ebook. Am I right? I can’t simply create a landing page if I have nothing, can I?

6I remember discussing this during one of our classes, but I need a little more clarification please.
“You need about 20 landing pages to add people to your lists.”
Was it on purpose that you said “lists” and not “list”? Assuming we have one list, am I correct in saying that you’re recommending we have 20 landing pages to that ONE list?
If so, then if I have one button that says “Darren Rowse hates kittens” and design my landing page around that theme, then the user signs up. But then on another button I have might say “Aaron likes Diet Coke” I’d design around that theme as well.
Stay with me, almost there.
So now I have two points of entry to the same list. I’m missing your point about how we like to see patterns, which I agree with, but I don’t see the connection here. Unless you’re suggesting I say on both landing pages that “if you have already signed up on the first list, then don’t bother with this one”, how is the sub going to distinguish between the two?
I signed up with an autoresponder service and I haven’t gotten this far, but I’m assuming that any reputable service like that would have in place a message indicating if the sub has already signed up. But if that’s the case, then I’ve wasted their time.
I know I must be overlooking something here. Thanks in advance to your answer.
