I have a confession. My name is Aaron and…
“I Am a Recovering Perfectionist”
My Legos were organized in small boxes according to size, color and function. I Armor-All’ed the seat, grips and tires on my Huffy. Peas were never allowed to touch mashed potatoes.
As an adult I have seen how perfectionism causes me undue stress and disappointment, so I have learned to reign in my perfectionist ways.
“You Shouldn’t Be a Perfectionist”
But there is an element of perfectionism I need to address today. It’s a facet of perfectionism you need to practice. The better you practice this the more successful you will be.
“You Need to Be Organized”
You can have a messy desk and be successful. You can work in your bathrobe and slippers and sleep till noon and be successful. You can mop the floors once a year (whether they need it or not), flip your underwear when it’s past laundry day and never change your oil. Those things are all OK. At least, from a make money blogging perspective.
“You Have to Be Organized About One Thing”
It’s the critical path that makes you money. It has to work. You have to get focused on getting that path organized so you can actually profit online.
“More Organized = More Money”
Show me anyone who is making serious bank online and I will show you a person who has a killer organized sales process. Every time. They may be a slob in other areas, they may waste their money and have a shoe-box full of IRS receipts that have never been sorted, but they have an organized sales process.

Thanks Kaushik.
Bingo! Good point Aaron and very close to home. I too am a recovering perfectionist
Living in a very fast and opportune world I have had to learn to prioritise and keep reassessing those priorities. I have also had to learn to say no sometimes, turn a blind eye to chores that do not really matter and realise I can’t and more importantly don’t need to do it all.
Marketing Babe Kayleen,
I think one of the toughest things for me–and probably for anyone who has perfectionistic tendencies–is to ignore things that don’t matter. In business attention to the right details is crucial. Attention to every detail is stagnation and death.
Yes it is tough deciding what to do first and what to spend your time on. I am a fanatical list maker and I couldn’t function without them but I need a list for all my lists! *grins*
