Every morning Robin gets up hours before me.

She showers, fixes her hair and puts on her make-up. She really doesn’t have to work so hard at her looks, but she wants everything to be perfect the first time I lay eyes on her.

While I am still sleeping, she takes time to send me an email for me to read later that day. She tells me about funny things that happened to her at work or makes funny comments about some current event.

At 6am she wakes me up with a cheery, well-rested “Good Morning Sunshine! I see you bed head! Time for that coffee!”

Which is the point.

You see, despite the narrative above, Robin Meade is an anchor at CNN.com and doesn’t have a clue who I am.

But she makes the effort to make each of her viewers feel like they are a part of her day, her life. She talks to them individually. She says “I see you there…” even though, of course, she doesn’t see you.
