Ian has a blog. Good blog, but not too much exposure yet. Like most people he’s desperate for subscribers.

He came over here to my blog the other day, and noticed some of my visitors wanted to have 3D book covers for their digital downloads. And they wanted high-quality. The kind most people pay big bucks for.

That’s when greed got the best of him. He saw an opportunity.


“That’s When He Lost His Mind”


He decided to bribe people to join his list by giving them–free–a Photoshop template they could use to create their own 3D logos. Obvious bribery, but maybe if he didn’t do it too long or get to brazen about it the authorities wouldn’t notice.

It was a good racket. Maybe even profitable. Hook up some digital junkies with a back alley Photoshop template. Nobody really gets hurt.


“But He Couldn’t Stop There”


Then a few of his “users” said they didn’t know how to use Photoshop or didn’t have it in the first place. That’s when he went too far: He offered to create the 3D book covers for them.

Hooking up digital junkies directly? For free? He’s got guts, but I don’t know about brains. How long does he think he can get away with this blatant disregard for the law?


“Now He’s In Even More Trouble”


Then today he sends me an email. Turns out he’s on the run, using an untraceable IP routed through Russian servers. But is he stopping? No way. He’s getting worse.

Now he’s not only offering a template. Now he’s not only offering to create a 3D book cover. Now he’s offering an incoming PageRank 3 link to anyone who signs up for his list and tells others to do the same.

I think the internet has gone to his brain.
