Most week days I walk about 3 miles and I’ve been doing that since 1981 or so. If you total up all those miles it’s somewhere over 20,000 miles. During that time I could have walked from New York to Los Angeles and back four times. If I could walk on water I could have almost all the way around the world.
But I didn’t walk in a straight line, I walked in a loop–and each day I ended up exactly where I started.
Now when it comes to exercising that worked out well. I didn’t want to be three miles further from home each day.
But in marketing, I see many people doing the same thing–they start going in one direction, but end up exactly where they started.
Today they are going to target search engines. Tomorrow they give up on that and try comment marketing. The next day they give up on that and try guest posting.
Days, weeks, months and even years go by and they aren’t any closer to their goal.
So here’s the advice you need to follow:
Choose a path or two and stick with them until they pay off. Trust me, it will make you money.

Yes, that’s about how I feel right now. Like I’m working hard but going nowhere.
Aaron,
I agree, lack of focus has been a problem for me… this attitude is
somewhat encouraged by a willingness to consider what others are
writing like oh yeah I should be concentrating on building a list or
I should be commenting on blogs or whatever else seems like a good
recommendation at the moment…
Recognizing the problem is a first step in the direction of more consistency… I hope!

There are several basic things that if you do them each day will eventually pay off for you. SEO and article marketing are two you can pretty much bank on.
How true, it is so easy to get distracted by that email or a bright shiny object, and be back where you were years ago. I have been listening to a series on marketing on Facebook and realized the guy is teaching the basics of Internet marketing, build a list, get the funnel working….etc. There is nothing new. getting clarity about what you do want in your life can help you move forward quickly. It also helps to keep the eye on the game.
Suzie,
You just attracted an edit to make your link clickable.
