At first all of his commentators agreed, but soon others (like me) chimed in to remind all that email is neither good nor bad, it is just another way to contact prospective customers.

Now at this point some will argue “wait, don’t people get too much email? Won’t they take your messages as spam?”

No matter how well you do email, some will sign up then later cry spam. It’s a fact of life and it isn’t going to change. Some people are jerks and don’t have a sense of personal responsibility.

And, yes, people get too much email.

But they will read YOUR email. At least, as much as they will read your feed.

If a person gives you their primary email it is also the email address they are giving to their aunt Berta (you know, the one with the sciatica?), their girlfriend and their HALO buddies. As a result when you send them an email it is sandwiched between Aunt Bertha and their girlfriend.

It’s a wonderful place to be.
